A little reminder that today is Buy British Day and of course that includes all that beautiful British yarn!

‘If there’s one thing Britain has lots of, it’s rolling green countryside. And where there is grass there are sheep. We have a lot of wool going for us as a result. Of course, Britain has it’s well-known yarn brands – Sirdar, Rowan, (a ‘go to’ brand for me!), Debbie Bliss and King Cole – but there’s a great deal more out there.’ So says the delightful Ellen on her ‘a pile of sheep’ blog.

Click on her link for a fabulous listing of all the lesser known, independent British yarn and treat yourself to something fabulous whilst supporting our British wool producers!

Fyberspates Scrumptious Lace

One of my very favourites is Fyberspates .. I adore their 4 ply and Lace weight particularly and one of my most popular pattern designs was made using their Scrumptious Lace in Oyster.

Other favourites are West Yorkshire Spinners, Jamieson and Smith (Which I use a lot of, particularly for hats), and I LOVE John Arbon Textiles, especially their sock yarns.

So please don’t limit yourself to the yarns you know, there is a whole world (Or country!) of delightful fibres just waiting to grace your needles …
